In this paper, the history of the concepts of soul, mind, and spirit are
reviewed in order to deny that such terms correctly apply to God. The
positions taken on the nature of mind and divinity are reviewed through
the Greek philosophical tradition to Augustine and Islamic philosophy.
In Islamic philosophy God is not understood as having a mind, but is
nevertheless knowing, willing and living.
